Web Design tools

HTML editors

For web design and page layout, our choice editor is Microsoft FrontPage 2004, or the new Expression Web Designer from Microsoft.  We use it because it keeps our websites error free.  Missing links and page errors are a thing of the past thanks to these editors.  It also incorporates your existing Microsoft access and Excel Databases right into your website.  All websites in our portfolio were designed with Microsoft FrontPage.

Image editors

For images, our preferred editors are Photoshop and Macromedia Fireworks.  Photoshop is the leading image editor in the industry.  And fireworks provides the great logo creation and animated gifs that give your website its "flair."

Macromedia Flash

We don't design entire websites with flash.  We like flash, but it takes a long time to develop, costing the client a lot more money than what may be necessary for them to spend.  Flash creates "moving" images sometimes to large to load for people with dial up modems.  A nice solid html (hyper text markup Language) website that loads quickly for all visitors is still the best technique for user friendly websites. However, we will include small animated flash shows on certain pages to give your website some flair.

Search Engine Techniques

Search engine placement

Don't fall for the "we will submit your website to over 500 search engines with guaranteed results!".  The fact is, there are no guarantees!  Even when you pay big $$$$!

Search engine technology changes frequently.  The best technique is to make sure you build a solid website which is thorough and filled with information you want to get across to your visitors.  There are no shortcuts on this one.  If you want it done right, it takes time.

2 Guys from Cleveland L.L.C. follow the latest techniques to get you listed in the appropriate directories on the web.  If your serious about maintaining good status in the search engine ranks, then regular maintenance of your meta data is necessary.

Animation

Animation can be created in a couple of different ways.  Rich animation with flying text and moving pictures can be achieved by using Macromedia Flash.  Pictures or banners that rotate can be produced in an animated gif format.  Both formats can be very effective if used properly.

Flash files are very rich in media sometimes requiring longer load times for the end user.  Somebody on a 56k modem might not wait 20, 30 or 60 seconds for a flash file to load, thus loosing a potential client or visitor quickly.  Using flash to compliment your html design is our best technique to combat the "quick" exit from your site.

Animated GIF's  (Graphic Interchange Format) - Definition: is a popular format for images on the Web; to create an animated GIF, you combine several images into one file and then play them back in quick succession. Animated GIFs are relatively easy to work with and widely supported by Web browsers.

Web Design FAQ

Do I need to meet the designers one on one to get this website started/finished?

Nope!  Some clients we have never met and only corresponded by email.  If you live in Cleveland, we would be happy to set up a personal meeting to discuss the outlines of your project.

Do you have a contract?

Our desire is to create a lasting relationship with our clients. One way is to have a clear understanding of the duties and responsibilities of each party.  Having a signed agreement spells out these duties to the client and web designer so there are no surprises.

Do you take Credit cards as a payment?

Yes, we do.  We use PayPal as our online merchant.

How do you charge?

All web design charges are billed hourly.  All web design is billed the same price per hour.  Below is a rough guide to what is charged under the hourly rate.

Do I have to host my website with 2 Guys from Cleveland to have them design it?

Nope!  But, technical support and other web functionality cannot be guaranteed on a web server that we are not familiar with.

My friends saw web hosting for $8 dollars a month. Do you give any breaks for websites that are smaller and don't require much space?

Sorry, our pricing for web hosting is competitive with the industry.  If you want to compare what the other host provides to what we provide in our standard package, you will find that our web hosting fees of $144 dollars a year is a fair deal.
